Time went by so quickly…

Saturday  28th was the last day of our meeting in Germany. So it was time to say goodbye to our exchange partners. In the evening, we met a last time at  Maria-Ward School to celebrate a farewell party with all the people participating in the Erasmus+ programme.

At first the teachers of the different nations gave some speeches praising the organisation and the activities of the week and then the party could finally start…

One had several options of how to spend this evening:

Of course, there was a great variety of food and drinks. The German students had prepared several kinds of finger food. You could choose from salads, cakes, nut corners and much more.

Another room was decorated as a disco-room. Here you could dance to popular music.

After getting tired of dancing it was time to create some souvenirs of the week in Germany:

Every student had the possibility to decorate her or his own gingerbread heart with food colouring. Some great works of art were created.

Furthermore, you could dress up with fancy accessories and take some Polaroid pictures of yourself and your exchange partner or other new friends - a great success! We had a lot of fun while taking these pictures.

On a huge poster with the Erasmus logo “Food for thought” in the middle and the four different flags on it the students could write down their names and their impressions of the week.

To liven up the party we also played some funny party games such as “musical chairs”. These games provided loads of laughs!

A few minutes before midnight all students gathered in the dancing room. On Sunday Anna-Lena, one of the German students, turned 18. We counted down the last seconds to midnight and raised our glasses. Everybody wished her a “Happy Birthday”. It got very emotional when the different student groups sang national birthday songs in their native languages.

But finally, it was time for us to clean up and go home, because most of the foreign students had to leave very early the next morning. We hugged a last time - it was very hard to say goodbye after a week we all had enjoyed so much…

Comments from Greece

Hello! The trip to Germany was an amazing experience I'll always remember. It was my first trip outside of Greece so I had great expectations, but I wasn't disappointed! The school and the teachers but above all the students were very organized and never failed to amaze us with their awesome work! Also, something that was a surprise to me was the hospitality of the host family and everyone in general !!! I will definitely visit Germany again but not in Winter because the temperatures are way too low for Greek people!!!

Our trip to Aschaffenburg will be for sure an experience that we will never forget.  It gave us the opportunity to meet people from four countries and taste different food and just be part of something very different and special. We visited new places , learned new things that are very important and can change the way we think, had fun and along the way make new friends with  different opinions and  generally people who live a life with not so many similarities to ours. We got to see how families live in Germany and meet their hospitality. Of course every day wasn’t exactly how we wanted and imagined it would be but nevertheless it was amazing. One in a life time opportunity to do so many things in such a limited time with so many people from other cultures.

We definitely had a great experience in Germany! We came in contact with a foreign culture, we met new people and we made new friends, which was the most important thing for us! Also, we shared our ideas with the students from Germany, Belgium and Norway and we came at the conclusion that we should take immediate action against food waste. Moreover, we went sightseeing to the most famous monuments of Aschafenburg and we ate some of their traditional food..they were tasteful! As regards our host families,I don't have words to thank them! Their love and hospitality were admirable! We all have great memories from our trip to Germany and we are looking forward to meeting Germans,Βelgians and Norwegians in Greece!
